GPR Concrete Scan for Reinforcements and Conduit Prior to Saw Cutting - Boston, MA
A general contractor was working on a renovation project at an apartment building Boston, MA. The scope of the project was to saw cut a trench for a 20 lineal ft. area so that several electrical lines could be installed. The saw cutters did not want to hit any existing conduits or shallow utilities within the concrete slab while trenching so, they decided to call Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Massachusetts. They chose Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Massachusetts as they knew that GPRS has been in business since 2001, and our technicians complete over 350 surveys per year. GPRS is the Experts in GPR. After receiving the call from the contractor, GPRS Project Manager, Eric Fish was able to arrive at the job site on the next day and he was able to complete the GPR investigation in a timely manner. This quick turnaround allowed the renovation project to proceed on time, and without any mistakes (such as hitting a conduit line or shallow utility).
GPRS uses real time applications and we are experienced enough to be able to locate all of the conduits and reinforcing within a concrete slab. For this project, GPRS Project Manager, Eric Fish was able to distinguish between reinforcing and conduits so that the client had accurate information on to what was below the project surface. For each conduit and reinforcing that as located, the results of the scan were marked directly onto the concrete surface with locations and depths.
GPRS also uses a Radio Detection device in order to detect all live power and radio frequencies. After the project, the general contractor was very pleased with the scan results. Thanks to GPRS, the contractor was able to proceed with their project with the peace of mind that there would not be any project delays or injuries.
