GPRS Scans Concrete for Electrical Contractor – Madison, Wisconsin

GPRS was contacted by a large electrical contractor in Madison, WI. to scan areas of a precast wall prior to core drilling. The precast concrete wall was 10” in thickness and contained two layers of reinforcing. The GPR equipment was able to locate both layers of the reinforcing to allow the contractor to core safely through the wall. GPRS, Inc. scanned with 1600MHz GPR and SIR4000 unit during the scan. The equipment was able to reach into tight spaces allowing for a quicker scanning process. This allowed the electricians contractor to drill safely and to keep their project under budget.

Ground penetrating radar is also a great tool to scan areas of post tension cables, rebar, and conduits, including PVC pipes and can also be used to locate underground utilities prior to digging or excavating.
