Plastic Conduit and Rebar Scan Prior to Bathroom Remodel - White Rock, British Columbia

GPRS Enterprises Inc. of British Columbia was contacted by a local bathroom remodeling specialist who was planning to move the location of a concrete core in order to install a new shower basin. GPRS mobilized the next afternoon and completed the entire concrete survey in under an hour. All reinforcing steel and water piping was marked clearly on the surface, and the results were communicated to the owner of the property. Work had been performed in another unit in the same building earlier that year by a different contractor, where they opted not to scan for in slab conduits or reinforcing steel before drilling into the slab. The negligent contractor cored directly through two plastic water pipes in the slab, and flooded the units below as a result. The damages were in the neighborhood of $10,000 - $15,000 dollars, and the contractor who made the mistake was taken off the project completely. This entire situation could have been avoided had the contractor made the call to have the slab checked before he proceeded.

Conduit and Rebar Mapped - White Rock, British Columbia

The photo above shows the reinforcing steel (in blue) and numerous conduits (in red) that were located within very close proximity to the proposed core location.

The water lines that were found running through the area were feeding a separate shower and sink that was located on the other side of the bathroom space. The previous cores were placed so that no steel or conduits were compromised, reinforcing the decision to avoid drilling through any steel on this project for the new core. Avoid potential risks, costs, and frustrations, and gain peace of mind by having us survey your locations prior to drilling, cutting, or destructively testing. GPRS can be on site within 24 hours of a request in order to keep these important concrete drilling/cutting projects running smoothly.
