GPRS Locates Conduit & Water line Prior to Saw Cutting - Beachwood, OH

Recently, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was requested on site by a general contractor to perform a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scan at the Landmark building in Beachwood, Ohio. The contractor saw cut through a high pressure water line just under the slab and needed to locate the line as well as any conduits prior to additional saw cutting. GPR located the water line along with two conduits in the areas to be saw cut. The lines located were marked out on site with depth indications to be sure no lines would be saw cut. The contractor was able to safely expose the lines and saw cut the rest of the area. Call GPRS before you saw cut or core drill concrete and we will keep you safe!

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems is the best way to ensure the locations of reinforcement and conduits prior to saw cutting/drilling through concrete. For more information on how GPRS, Inc. can help you on your next project, please contact Micah Stair at 330-639-8933 or by email at micah.stair@gp-radar.com. We also have the capabilities of locating underground utilities, UST’s, and voids.

Equipment That Was Used For This Project:

GPRS GSI Scanning Concrete   GSI 1600 GPR Scanning

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

  • GSSI SIR – 3000
    • GPRS uses a Geophysical Survey Systems Inc. (GSSI) SIR-3000 Radar unit. This is the most advanced GPR available. It allows for on-site interpretation, as well as stores data for later processing. This equipment is self-calibrating, allowing more precise depth and location measurements.
  • 1600 MHz Antenna
    • This antenna allows data collection to a maximum depth of approximately 18”, depending on concrete conditions.

    Radio-frequency Detection System (RD)

    • RD 7000+
      • This is an electro-magnetic tone locating device manufactured by Radio Detection. This specific model detects live power and RF signals underground, allowing us to locate electrical or telephone lines even if they are below the minimum size requirements to be detected by GPR. It also allows us to detect utilities via induction or conduction with an exposed or known surface of the utility.
