GPRS Locates Rebar and Supporting Steel – Albuquerque, NM

In order to ensure public safety, companies are sometimes hired by the state to inspect and confirm the appropriate use of rebar and supporting steel within public structures. These companies need to be able to prove to the state that the appropriate reinforcement was used at the correct depths to ensure structural stability. Ground Penetrating Radar can be used to map out reinforcement and provide detailed results to state inspection agencies.

GPRS of New Mexico was hired by one of these companies to scan a newly constructed bridge in southern New Mexico. The client wanted to confirm the depth and spacing of reinforcement within the deck. GPRS was mobilized to the site and provided a detailed report giving a sufficient sample of reinforcement throughout the length of the 380 foot bridge to the company conducting the inspection.

There had been a large sink hole on a secure government facility which posed a danger to both employees and structures. GPRS was able to successfully locate numerous voids within the area. This data could then be used by the facility to repair the voids and ensure no further damage to the area.
