GPRS Private Utility Scanning at Elementary School - Buffalo, West Virginia

Ground Penetrating Radar Scan performed in Buffalo, West Virginia at a local Elementary School. An Engineering company contacted our Charleston office to conduct an underground utility locate in order to identify unknown lines and obstructions within an area for future construction plans. GPRS was able to identify several lines in the area which were then marked out using paint and pin flags and then directly surveyed by the Engineering firm to provide a plan. GPRS was able to identify a gas line, new and old water line, as well as some drainage pipes. While on site GPRS was able to identify the warning tape that was buried to identify the gas line on site. In the GPR data an anomaly was shown at approximately 1’ (warning tape) as well as another anomaly at approximately 2’-2.5’ (gas line). The crew on site was curious and was able to excavate down to confirm our findings, bellow we have provided a sample photo of the data as well as a photo from the excavation. GPRS was able to identify the underground utilities in the area in question in order to keep the plans on schedule and limit incidents during the construction phases.
