Recently, Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was requested on site by a general contractor to perform a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scan in Akron, Ohio. The purpose was to locate any post tension cables prior to core drilling. The building was new and no reinforcement could be hit for structural reasons. All cables were marked out in areas of concern and the general contractor was able to safely drill holes without hitting any reinforcement. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems is the best way to ensure the locations of reinforcement and conduits prior to saw cutting/drilling through concrete. The pictures above show all of the post tension cables marked on site prior to core drilling.
