Private Utility Scanning - Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

GPRS Enterprises Inc. of British Columbia was called out to scan a 4-acre property prior to demo of an existing strip mall in the city of Kelowna. The client was a major grocery store chain in Canada, and wanted a comprehensive utility scan to be conducted prior to demo/shutdown and the design phase of the new facility. GPRS used Radar scanning and radio detection to locate a gas main, storm drains, sanitary sewer, power, water feeds and communication lines around the existing buildings prior to shutoff. A few of these utilities were privately installed and were not recorded on city plans, making this information vital prior to breaking ground.

Private Utility Mapping with GPR - Kelowna, British Columbia

A GPS unit was used to take precise location of each utility line for input into an AutoCAD drawing that was submitted to the client. This utility drawing could then be used in all phases of upcoming construction, eliminating risk and keeping the project on schedule. GPRS was able to mobilize and complete this project in a 48-hour time period.
