Private Utility Scan at Airport - Los Angeles, CA

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. - GPRS - of California was contacted by a major nationwide general contractor with whom we have business nationwide to locate utilities on the apron of LAX airport. The purpose of this project was to locate utilities in an area in which they will be installing additional charging/fueling stations for the vehicles used on the airport’s apron. In addition to this, they will be coring and drilling into the apron to install bollards to protect the stations. We first swept the area with Radio Detection and attached our transmitter to all visible risers within 50’ of the area we were asked to scan. We then used our GPR attempt to locate additional utilities that do not transmit a power or radio frequency such as a drain/sewer line. We were able to give our client peace of mind that in the areas we scanned we found 2 conduits in the concrete slab and a sewer line at 3’ deep.
