Radar Rebar Scan Prior to Wall Removal at State Capitol - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Prior to the demolition of an existing wall, GPRS was required to map out the reinforcement where a wall needed to be cut out to bring in equipment. A structural engineer/contractor contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. The mission was to scan a 20’x10’ area so engineers could calculate what type of header or additional reinforcement needs to be added to support the void of the removed section. Mike Kuebbeler-GPRS Oklahoma mobilized to the site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to perform a method of concrete "x-ray" within the suggested areas.

Due to the portability of the GPR antenna, the radar imaging was performed quickly and accurately. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface with permanent marker, by request of the client, the customer was able to avoid any PT Cables, damage to the structure and injuries on-site. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
