Often prior to selling or developing properties, the parties involved need to determine if any underground storage tanks are still present on site before a final transaction can take place. Nobody wants to be stuck with the cost & headache of removing any unknown underground storage tanks with a property they just purchased. Ground Penetrating Radar is an excellent tool to utilize when determining if any UST’s are still present at a site.

Underground Storage Tanks Located - Ann Arbor, MI  UST Scanning Near Detroit

An Environmental Company had a project at a residence in Ann Arbor MI where a suspected UST was still present on site. They had noticed a vent pipe sticking out of the ground which is an indicator for a possible UST. Prior to any sale being finalized, there client wanted information as to if any UST’s had remained in place. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Michigan was contacted to investigate the residence in the area of the vent pipe to provide answers to some of the questions regarding remaining UST’s onsite. GPRS utilized a 400 MHz antenna to investigate the areas. The technology used provided real time results for everyone involved. During the investigation GPRS successfully located a UST in the location of the vent pipe. They also marked a potential fuel line heading in to the UST. Ground penetrating radar was able to provide the depth to the UST as well so when removing it the excavators had knowledge of when they were approaching the UST. The parties then had the information needed to proceed with the sale of the property along with the accurate location & depth to the UST.
