video pipe and sewer line inspection

CCTV Sewer Pipe Inspection in Los Angeles, California

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPRS) was recently called out to perform a CCTV sewer pipe inspection in the north region of Los Angeles, California. The city requires a post inspection of new storm pipe segments installed to ensure proper installation has been achieved. Video pipe inspection services are the best option for achieving this post installation task.

GPRS Project Manager, Tyler Papworth, was able to mobilize to the site to perform the post installation video pipe inspection. This project required the use of several tools. First, the PM lowered a robotic crawler camera down a nearby manhole. This rover-type sewer video camera is able to crawl up to 1,000 feet into a main line and perform video inspections. In order to measure the depth of possible standing water in a sewer pipe, we were also required to attach a depth measuring target to the rover that is visible at all times while recording video. During this inspection, we did find that a contractor, during cross-boring operations, penetrated a 12” storm sewer line. This caused the pipe to be punctured on both sides which also caused soil infiltration into the storm sewer system. All other sewer pipe segments that were inspected were found to be up to code for the City of Los Angeles.

GPRS has many different subsurface inspection services including manhole inspections in Oakland California, cross bore locating in Modesto California, sewer inspections in Daly City California, sewer and water pipe locating in Redding California, and sewer lateral video inspections in Reno Nevada.
