Matt Aston Guests on Work Cultured Podcast
“A Culture of Accountability and Innovation” is the title of Season 4, Episode 3, of Jason P. Carroll’s Work Cultured Podcast, which features GPRS’ founder and CEO, Matt Aston.

That title is an apt description of the company culture at GPRS. One that has forged lifelong bonds while growing a one-man show into a corporation with over 800 team members and a nationwide footprint. Extending trust, expecting accountability, and pursuing thoughtful innovation are some of the foundational concepts Aston learned and embraced to cultivate GPRS’ culture.
Sometimes, the leadership learning curve was steep, but necessary, as demonstrated in Aston’s answer to the first question Carroll poses to all Work Cultured guests: What is a mistake that you’ve made in leadership that you’ll never forget?
Aston: I think the one that if you could push the do-over button and just have another shot… Early on, I was way too tolerant… I just pushed off the tough conversations. I tolerated too much garbage, really, too much mediocrity, and it cost me personally. It cost the company, it cost the company growth, it cost the company opportunity… And if I could push the do-over button and just be a little tougher out of the gate… You really come to the realization that, look, I’m not doing this person any favors by not letting them go… The longer I keep them in the role, the longer I’m holding them back from wherever it is that they’re supposed to go and may have an opportunity to thrive… It took a little longer to realize that, for me, than it should have.”
