WalkThru 3D Virtual Tours

Capture and regularly update existing conditions documentation for a site or facility with WalkThru 3D. GPRS utilizes rectified 3D photogrammetry to create an orthomosaic 3D image that you can virtually walk through to visualize every aspect of the project.

WalkThru 3D allows you to remotely report existing reality capture to stakeholders, managers, contractors, and trades, so that they can walk through the site at their own pace. And, because it is delivered via SiteMap®, you can even digitally measure inside the image to help plan and design better.

SITE WALKS
Give stakeholders, contractors, designers, and trades a complete virtual tour of your site or facility that can capture survey marks, excavation, utilities, paving, concrete work, and more prior to your build. After the work is complete, GPRS can create an updated WalkThru 3D tour to allow your stakeholders, potential tenants or buyers, and others to walk through the finished project.

///EMERGENCY & DISASTER PLANNING

VIRTUAL TOURS
Emergency preparedness is a vital part of risk mitigation at any site or facility. A WalkThru 3D virtual tour can provide a realistic, three-dimensional emergency response guide to help train employees, students, and teachers, and to give first responders an instant look inside your facility before they even get on site. Exits, fire extinguishers, landmarks, and escape routes can all be clearly seen, traced, and practiced in a realistic visualization that users can click through at their own pace. GPRS can also place tags within your tour to provide additional information that may be needed, like videos, URLs, or text.

FLOORPLAN
Create a plan view record of your site or facility with FLRPLN. GPRS will take the rectified, 3D photogrammetry used to create your virtual tour and create an accurate plan view of your floorplan layout which can be used to create emergency plans and escape routes, map important emergency features like fire extinguishers, water or electrical shut-offs, and mark-out gathering points. You can then export, save, and print your FLRPLN files to utilize as part of your emergency preparedness plan.

///WALKTHRU 3D LASER SCAN PACKAGE

While WalkThru 3D provides rectified imaging that is accurate enough for rough measurements, if your project requires a higher level of accuracy, GPRS also offers a WalkThru 3D Laser Scan Package that combines 3D photogrammetry and LiDAR technology to provide 2-4mm accurate reality capture of existing as-built conditions.

Your 3D laser scan data can be utilized by our in-house mapping & modeling team to provide you with a variety of as-built documentation, from a full-color point cloud, to a full 3D BIM model flythrough tour of your site, all with that same level of accuracy to help you plan, design, manage, and build better.

///Case Study

ACCURATE CABLE LAYOUT & VIRTUAL TOUR CRITICAL TO CONSTRUCTION & PLANNING
Mapping the support grid of a concrete slab & creating a 3D virtual tour via WalkThru3D facilitated design & planning, and minimized delays, risk, and injury.
TASK:
GPRS located and marked-out the full post tension cable system layout for 12 floors of a 49-story high-rise that contained approximately 12,500 s.f. of concrete per floor. Upon concrete scanning completion, GPRS utilized 3D LiDAR and photogrammetry to capture the markings to produce 2D CAD drawings, a 3D BIM model, and a full WalkThru 3D virtual tour. The architect received a comprehensive layout of the PT cables, and an accurate existing condition tour of the construction, all in 3D, to reduce clashes and speed planning & design.
Computer Monitor | GPRS
The Bottom Line:
GPRS detailed drawings, maps, and WalkThru 3D tour allowed for off-site planning among departments for safe cutting, coring, and drilling for building-wide MEP and HVAC installations.

Chat box with question mark | GPRS
Problem
Post tension cable location, spacing, and depth are determined by an engineer, are specific to each project, and must be traced in short distances to reveal the slope.

Each tendon pulls 24,000 to 33,000 lbs. of pressure, so damaging a cable when cutting, coring, or drilling into a slab can cause a tendon to burst with enough force to cause severe injury or death.

Replacing a single cable can cost more than $10,000.
Magnifying glass with check | GPRS
Solution
GPRS used ground penetrating radar (GPR) to locate and document each concrete reinforcement, including the number of cables and depths, directly on the slab.

Project Managers captured the slab markings with 3D laser (LiDAR) & photogrammetry to create:

  • A comprehensive WalkThru 3D virtual tour
  • 2D CAD drawings of the internal slab structure
  • A 3D BIM model that included the internal PT cable structure to aid in installation planning
Captured point cloud data was aligned to both survey control & the clients design model to ensure data accuracy.
