Longtime GPRS safety partner, Turner Construction, recently broke ground on a new training facility and team headquarters for the NFL’s Denver Broncos.
According to NBC affiliate 9News, Broncos owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner, general manager George Paton, and head coach Sean Payton participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the $175 million training center complex on Thursday, August 29.
The new, 205,000 s.f. facility is being built on the same plot of land as the Broncos’ existing training center complex, which was constructed in 1990. It is expected to open before the 2026 NFL season.
“The one we’ve been in right behind us for 34 years has served us really well,” Greg Penner told 9News. “But what we’ve found was a number of the spaces that were designed were just too small, especially the locker room.”
Turner Vice President of Communications Chris McFadden confirmed to Construction Dive that his firm is serving as CM/GC on the project, which is being designed by HOK and Rockwell Group.
The privately funded, three-story facility will be 30% larger than the Broncos’ existing complex, according to a press release HOK and Rockwell issued when the project was announced in November 2023. The firm stated that the complex is designed “in a contemporary style reflective of Colorado with a focus on enhancing player health and performance…”
“Our vision is to create a new home for the Denver Broncos that reflects our values of winning and teamwork with a modern Colorado design,” Greg Penner said. “While we considered several options to modify our current facility, we decided to do this the right way by building a new player-centered headquarters with an efficient layout and the latest amenities. Having both our football and business operations on the same campus will foster a championship environment in pursuit of our goals on and off the field.”
Denver’s new main headquarters will be located directly west of its existing one on the plaza level and connect to the 115,000-sq.-ft. Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse, which was built in 2014 and named after the late, longtime team owner who guided the franchise to three Super Bowl victories and seven AFC championships.
HOK and Rockwell stated in its press release that player path of travel will be reduced to increase efficiency, although the overall size of the new headquarters dwarfs the team’s current facility. The first floor of the complex will house player spaces, including an expanded locker room, sports performance areas and meeting rooms. The second floor will be dedicated to football operations, while the third will house business ops.
The Broncos’ new facility is designed with a focus on sustainability, which includes utilizing locally sources materials and energy efficient design strategies. It will also feature hospitality spaces, including an amenity courtyard, rooftop terrace, and balconies.
The team will continue to operate out of their existing headquarters throughout construction.
“We are thrilled to share plans for a new team headquarters with Broncos Country, bringing together our organization and contributing to a positive culture that supports the No. 1 goal of winning,” Broncos President Damani Leech said. “The combination of layout, collaborative spaces, flexibility and size will place the Broncos’ new training facility among the very best in all of sports.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Does GPRS perform S.U.E. work?
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) reduces the risk and improves the accuracy of subsurface utility readings. It is broken down into four levels of quality, governed by ASCE Standard 38-02.
GPRS does not provide a fully comprehensive in-house SUE service. We use SUE Level 2-equivalent methodology and equipment to locate utilities with an accuracy rate of 99.8%, and our services allow a SUE Level 1 investigation to be performed more efficiently, eliminating the need to waste thousands of dollars on exploratory potholing.
What type of informational output is provided when GPRS performs a utility locate?
Our Project Managers flag and paint our findings directly on the surface. This method of communication is the most accurate form of marking when excavation is expected to commence within a few days of service.
GPRS also uses a global positioning system (GPS) to collect data points of findings. We use this data to generate a plan, KMZ file, satellite overlay, or CAD file to permanently preserve results for future use. GPRS does not provide land surveying services. If you need land surveying services, please contact a professional land surveyor. Please contact us to discuss the pricing and marking options your project may require.
How does GPRS reinforce its commitment to safety?
At GPRS, safety is always on our radar. That’s why we host and/or sponsor a series of safety-related programs throughout the year.
Concrete Sawing & Drilling Safety Week (CSDSW) sees our safety experts traveling to job sites across the country to deliver free informational sessions on how your workers can keep themselves and each other safe when working with and around concrete.
Construction Safety Week tackles safety topics such as mental health awareness, fall protection, and more.
And Water & Sewer Damage Awareness Week (WSDAW) is focused on the best practices for protecting our water and wastewater infrastructure, so it can keep working for us.
