Task

Inspect multiple sewer cleanouts to find out why the sewer is backing up in multiple locations in a restaurant.

PROBLEM

  • The client was having issues with the sewer backing up inside the restaurant
  • There were no current maps of sewer system
  • The client thought the sewer might be illegally dumping into storm drain system

Solution

  • A GPRS VPI Project Manager utilized a CCTV crawler camera to inspect and map multiple clean outs inside the restaurant
  • No issues were found when mapping the dishwasher area cleanout
  • The cleanout in the office was mapped, finding that the PVC line fed into a large concrete storm drain line outside the restaurant area
  • A dye test was also conducted and confirmed the cleanout was dumping into the storm drain line

Benefits

  • By locating the illicit tie-in and mapping the sewer system, GPRS was able to provide the client with the necessary information to fix the problem and properly route the sanitary sewer.
