Task
Inspect a distribution warehouse’s sewer system and 3D laser scan its interior to provide accurate existing conditions documentation.
PROBLEM
- The client was planning renovations on a recently purchased a 100,000 square foot distribution warehouse
- There were no accurate as-built documents for the facility
- The client wanted to eliminate surprises in the renovation process
Solution
- A GPRS Project Manager conducted a video pipe inspection to map the facility’s sewer system and document any defects
- GPRS conducted 3D laser scans of the interior of the warehouse using a Matterport Pro 3 scanner
- GPRS’ in-house Mapping & Modeling Team used the 3D laser scan data to create a detailed CAD drawing, 3D model, and WalkThru 3D virtual tour of the building
Benefits
- The sewer inspections revealed that some debris seemed to have been intentionally shoved into some of the building’s cleanouts, allowing the client to address it immediately
- The CAD drawings, 3D model, and virtual tour will allow the client and their partners to plan renovations and keep accurate records throughout the building life cycle
