GPRS Maps Tank Farm Utilities & Provides 3D Virtual Tour of 70+ Year-Old Refinery For Fire Suppression, Butane Rack Upgrades, and Tank Removal

• The site, a previous brick factory, was repurposed as a refinery in the 1950s
• There were no record drawings or as-builts available
• The refinery is a major transport artery for the customer’s other gas & oil facilities

• GPRS Project Managers scanned the refinery tank farm over a five-day period with ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic (EM) locators to capture all available subsurface data
• Significant underground utility congestion was discovered, particularly near the shop area, and numerous duct banks and conduits throughout
• The GPRS-captured data was uploaded to SiteMap® (patent pending) via Real-Time Kinematic Positioning (RTK) for the most accurate geolocation & utility map available
• Matterport 3D photogrammetry was utilized to provide a WalkThru 3D virtual tour of the site, capturing our utility markings
• Findings were delivered via GPRS’ SiteMap application as a 2D CAD PDF of the utilities overlaid onto satellite imagery, interactive SiteMap digital utility maps, and WalkThru 3D

• Our customers now have their first comprehensive permanent utility record of their aging and complex refinery tank farm infrastructure
• WalkThru 3D allows facilities managers and off-site stakeholders to review the existing site conditions and GPRS findings
• RTK positioning provides extremely accurate geolocation of GPRS’ 99.8% accurate locates, so facilities and operations can excavate without fear of a utility strike
