Task

Locate and map utilities under a 20-acre parcel of land in the heart of a university campus, which was to be transformed into a green space.

PROBLEM

  • The university was looking to create a premier green space next to its football stadium
  • They needed to relocate some utilities before creating a water feature in the center of the new park
  • They also wanted to avoid striking any buried utilities in the area while excavating, which would delay the project, balloon its budget and possibly even endanger workers on site

Solution

  • GPRS utilizes industry-leading training and methodology, and state-of-the-art technology like ground penetrating radar and electromagnetic (EM) locating to locate and map buried utilities
  • Remote-controlled, CCTV camera-equipped sewer inspection rovers allow us to map and inspect buried sewer and stormwater infrastructure

Benefits

  • The university was able to use the accurate, complete infrastructure data provided by GPRS to tie into the existing drainage system for the new water feature
  • The existing utilities were found to not have any significant defects or damages
  • Excavation was completed safely, and on time and budget, and utility relocation was successfully completed
