3D Laser Scanning A Theatre To Generate A 3D Model

GPRS captured point cloud data to generate a 3D as-built model from which the client could take measurements and locate key features that could be affected by the seating renovation.
GPRS laser scanned a historic theater, including the main floor, three balcony levels, and box seats to generate a 3D Revit model for seating renovations. The target objects of data acquisition were structural features, including exposed columns and beams; and the architectural envelope of the audience area, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, openings, railings, seats, floor, and lighting.

GPRS 3D laser scanned a historic theatre to generate a 3D Revit model for seating renovations. Case Study: 3D Laser Scanning A Theatre To Generate A 3D Model Location: Philadelphia, PA Task: GPRS laser scanned a historic theater, including the main floor, three balcony levels and box seats to generate a 3D Revit model for seating renovations. The target objects of data acquisition were structural features, including exposed columns and beams; and the architectural envelope of the audience area, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, openings, railings, seats, floor and lighting. Problem: The client did not have accurate as-builts to plan and layout the new seating and understand the grade of the main floor and balconies. Manually measuring for this would have been time consuming and less accurate. Solution: 3D laser scanning will provide the client precise, as-built documentation of the historic theater, including floor slope, balcony and ceiling heights. GPRS captured point cloud data to generate a 3D as-built model from which the client could take measurements and locate key features that could be affected by the seating renovation. Benefits: GPRS’ in-house CAD technicians created a 3D Revit model for the client. Revit families were created for all the varying features so that each layer could be selected or de-selected depending on which portion of the model was being analyzed by the client. Accurate data facilitates timely and cost-efficient decisions. The 3D model will be crucial to plan for enhancements that are made to the space. This model could further be used to study the room acoustics and how adding/removing/changing objects would impact the reflection of sound. GPRS Intelligently Visualizes The Built World® for our customers, nationwide. Our 3D laser scanning services specialize in point cloud processing and Autodesk® software implementation workflows. Certified laser scanning professionals have extensive experience in data collection. Our in-house Mapping & Modeling Team bring real world applications of the data to create meaningful models. For 3D laser scanning in Philadelphia, call GPRS. For 3D laser scanning services in theatres, arenas or stadiums, contact GPRS Laser Scanning. Certified scanning professionals have extensive experience in collecting point cloud data. GPRS generated a 3D Revit model of the theater’s structure, architecture and seating. 3D Laser Scanning To Expedite The Installation Of ACM Panels

The client was able to fabricate components offsite and plan a flawless installation based on our existing condition data and 3D model. Plus, GPRS' work was conducted entirely at night, mitigating any disruption to construction
Field verification to prefabricate ACM panels
Our client was installing ACM panels to the canopy of a newly constructed airport terminal. The construction plans did not match the existing conditions at the site. A deviation could cause a major issue. The installation process needed to be precisely planned to avoid rework.
The construction plans did not match the existing conditions at the site. The installation process needed to be precisely planned to avoid rework • The shape of the canopy was complicated and stood 65 feet in the air. The client needed field verification and a plan to expedite proper installation of the panels • Installers were working overhead in a lift; there was no room for trial and error Solution • The Project Manager conducted a site walk to devise a plan for the client • The canopy and curtain wall of the airport terminal were 3D laser scanned to capture precise as-built data and generate a 3D model and 2D drawings to facilitate ACM panel installation • 22" x 34" 2D CAD drawings were created with the panel layout for the client to take to the field. This allowed each panel to be labeled with a custom number, cut and shim points Benefits • Laser scanning obtained exact measurements for the client and took away any guesswork from this project • To circumvent the active construction site, the Project Manager scanned the site at night to eliminate movement and trades working • The client was able to fabricate components offsite and plan a flawless installation
