ClearEdge3D Edgewise software was used to process piping and quickly create a 3D MEP BIM model for the client.
GPRS 3D laser scanned 40,000 square feet of office space on the 6th floor of a building in Cincinnati, Ohio. The area was recently renovated, and the objective was to capture MEP features to create an accurate as-built survey for the client. GPRS’ Project Manager used a Leica P40 ScanStation to capture 3D point cloud data for the GPRS’ Mapping and Modeling team to create a 3D BIM model.

Challenge: The client wanted to complete the laser scan after the space had been framed in, but before the ceiling grid and tiles were installed. This gave the client a very limited window of time to capture the above ceiling piping. They wanted to quickly and accurately capture all MEP components and pipes, so they could install the ceiling and begin to populate the space. Solutions: GPRS maintained constant communication with the client to schedule the scanning just before ceiling grid was installed. With just a few days’ notice, the Project Manager mobilized to the site. GPRS’ experienced technician could ensure that 3D laser scan technology would completely and accurately capture the as-built site conditions. Laser scanning was completed while other contractors continued their work, and complex areas were scheduled during the hours when contractors were off-site. Deliverables: GPRS provided the client with Autodesk Recap files and Black and White Leica TruViews. Also, using preliminary EdgeWise extraction, GPRS engineers provided an AutoCAD .dwg file to the client. Added Value: The scan technician worked during off-peak times, which expedited GPRS’ time on site. Additionally, GPRS’ engineers are trained and experienced in numerous software applications and can create custom deliverables for each client quickly. In this case, ClearEdge 3D Edgewise software was used to process piping and quickly create a 3D model.

When generating mixed reality experiences, computer-generated objects must precisely interact with the physical environment to sell the realism. 3D laser scanning captures existing site conditions with great accuracy.
GPRS laser scanned SoFi Stadium for our client, The Famous Group, to create a mixed-reality experience for the Super Bowl. Using the RTC360 laser scanner, a GPRS project manager 3D laser scanned the stadium and the Mapping & Modeling Team delivered an LOD 200 Revit 3D model for augmented reality use.

Location: SoFi Stadium -- Inglewood, California Task: TruePoint 3D laser scanned SoFi Stadium for our client, The Famous Group, to create a mixed-reality experience for the Super Bowl. Using the RTC360 laser scanner, TruePoint's project manager 3D laser scanned the stadium and our in-house team of CAD technicians delivered an LOD 200 Revit 3D model for augmented reality use. The stadium has 70,240 seats — which can be expanded to 100,240 for major events like the Super Bowl — 260 executive suites and a unique design to protect from potential seismic activity. Additionally, a 2.2 million-pound Infinity Screen by Samsung video board is suspended from the roof over the field. SoFi Stadium by the numbers 298 acres. 3.1 million square feet. 70,000 seats, expandable to 100,000 for major events and concerts. 100,000 tons of steel and cable installed. 260 luxury suites. 13,000 premium seats. 23 elevators, 40 escalators and 2,638 doors. Solution: In 2 days on site, TruePoint's project manager documented the as-built conditions of the stadium. Using the RTC360 laser scanner, TruePoint 3D laser scanned SoFi stadium, including the field, goal posts, sidelines, end zone, walls, tunnel entrances, scoreboards, concourse, stairs, stands, and suites. An intensity map point cloud and LOD 200 Revit 3D model was delivered for augmented reality use. Deliverables: All deliverables are created in our corporate office by experienced engineers and CAD technicians. TruePoint delivered the following to the client: Colorized Point Cloud in .rcs file format Revit 2021 LOD 200 3D Model of Stadium Added Value: For more than 20 years, The Famous Group has created mixed reality and augmented reality for Fortune 500 brands, professional sports events, esports, concerts, festivals and retail environments. As-Built Survey Parking Lot Structures for Prefabrication

GPRS provided 3D laser scanning services for six parking lot structures at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, ranging from 500 to 2,500 square feet in plan area. The client wanted accurate dimensional information to prefabricate replacement canopies for each of the structures.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport – DFW Airport, Texas Prefabrication of Canopies for Parking Lot Structures ‍ TASK: GPRS provided 3D laser scanning services for six parking lot structures at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, ranging from 500 to 2,500 square feet in plan area. The client wanted accurate dimensional information to prefabricate replacement canopies for each of the structures. ‍ CHALLENGE: The client needed accurate information to design replacement fabric panels, including the location of the attachment plates and fasteners. They requested a quick turnaround on this project, GPRS expedited deliverables within 15 working days of the purchase order. ‍ SOLUTION: Dimensions were quickly verified in these high traffic areas of the airport with a Leica laser scanner. GPRS’ Mapping & Modeling Team created an LOD 200 Revit 3D model including basic structural elements, such as exposed structural columns and joists, grade and canopy. With the 3D model, the following details could be used to expedite prefabrication and installation - elevations, plan dimensions, radii of rolled elements, plus locations and dimensions of all attachment hardware.
