As-Built Construction
As-builts provide an accurate record of a building or site’s existing conditions, including architectural, structural, utility, and MEP system dimensions, locations, and material specifications for reliable project planning.
Point Cloud of a Factory
Point Clouds
By representing spatial data as a collection of x, y, and z coordinates, point clouds deliver 2–4-millimeter accurate datasets of buildings, facilities, and sites that can be mined for information. This 3D dataset of existing site conditions can be processed into 3D BIM models, 3D meshes, and 2D CAD drawings.

GPRS 3D Laser Scans Hard Rock Stadium For Mixed Reality Super Bowl Feature

3D laser scanning captures real-world spaces with millimeter precision for clients to create engaging virtual reality experiences.
GPRS 3D laser scanned the Hard Rock Stadium for use in a mixed-reality experience during the 2020 Super Bowl on February 2. Mixed reality is a blend of physical and virtual worlds that includes both real and computer-generated objects. The two worlds are "mixed" together to create a realistic environment.

Case Study: TruePoint 3D Laser Scans Hard Rock Stadium For Mixed Reality Super Bowl Feature We would like to thank The Famous Group, the Miami Dolphins and the Hard Rock Stadium for allowing us to be a part of this project.” - Ryan Hacker, President of TruePoint Laser Scanning Location: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida Task: TruePoint 3D laser scanned the Hard Rock Stadium for use in a mixed-reality experience during the 2020 Super Bowl on February 2. Mixed reality is a blend of physical and virtual worlds that includes both real and computer-generated objects. The two worlds are "mixed" together to create a realistic environment. Challenge: It was important to the client that the existing spatial layout was captured with great accuracy. When generating the mixed reality experience, computer-generated objects must precisely interact with the physical environment to sell the realism. Solution: The upper and lower stands, field topography, LED display screens, LED ribbon around stadium, two Hard Rock Stadium signs and roof structure were documented with a survey-grade Leica P40 ScanStation. In two days onsite, 172 laser scans of precise point cloud data was captured. TruePoint’s team of in-house engineers quickly generated a 3D Revit model for the client. The client planned to use Autodesk Maya, a 3D computer animation, modeling and rendering software to create an augmented reality (AR) simulation. Deliverables: TruePoint delivered point cloud files in .rcs format, a 3D Revit Model, and a FBX file. The client was also able to view the model progress using Autodesk A360, a web-browser application that allows engineers and project teams to work together more easily in an online workspace. Added Value: “Everything we do at TruePoint Laser Scanning is highly custom. This client wanted portions of the stadium modeled in LOD 100 and portions modeled in LOD 300. Our deliverables were customized, so the client is only paying for what they need,” Aaron Hunt, Lead Technical Manager. Oil Tank 3D Laser Scan

For oil tank replacement, the true shape and condition of the tank can be critical for ensuring that the new design fits the existing conditions; reducing costly delays or rework.
GPRS provided terrestrial-based 3D laser scanning services for a 25' x 25' x 30' oil tank near Topeka, Kansas. The objective was to capture the existing conditions of the tank, piping, flanges, nozzles, structural steel, pipe supports, and grade.

3D laser scanning by GPRS for an oil tank replacement. Case Study: Oil Tank 3D Laser Scan Location: Emporia, Kansas TASK: GPRS provided terrestrial-based 3D laser scanning services for a 25' x 25' x 30' oil tank near Topeka, Kansas. The objective was to capture the existing conditions of the tank, piping, flanges, nozzles, structural steel, pipe supports and grade. PROBLEM: The client was upgrading the oil tank and needed 3D laser scanning to plan for the removal and replacement. For tank replacement, the true shape and condition of the tank can be critical for ensuring that the new design fits the existing conditions; hence reducing costly delays or rework. All piping, nozzles and structural steel around the tank was reality-captured so the new tank could be designed with proper fit and without interruptions to the unit. SOLUTION: 3D laser scanning provides a way to quickly and accurately obtain the existing condition information. The exact dimensions of a tank can easily be determined to ensure that fabrications match the existing structure. In less than 5 hours on site, the GPRS Project Manager captured the as built conditions of the existing tank and nozzles. Once the point cloud was registered, GPRS Mapping & Modeling CAD technicians delivered the point cloud data for the client to incorporate into their design model. GPRS delivered Intensity Map Point Cloud files, RCS Files and PTG Files to the client. BENEFITS: GPRS uses Leica Laser scanners, which can also capture images to further enhance the collected data. These images, called TruViews, were provided to the client and offer factual record of the areas inspected. GPRS is an experienced 3D laser scanning company. Our knowledgeable Project Managers confidently scan complex jobs with extreme safety requirements. For this job, the technician used an intrinsically safe laser scanner, since any spark would cause an explosion for this particular tank farm. Delivering the point cloud data gives the client the ability to do clash detection for interferences, saving them time and money in the field. 3D Laser Scanning a Spiral Staircase

GPRS provided laser scanning services to capture data from a staircase and railings to generate a 3D model in STP file format. The target objects of acquisition were the staircase features including treads, rails and rail hangers. The 3D model was needed to create custom drawings to prefabricate an irregular railing.
GPRS is experienced in 3D laser scanning spiral staircases.
Location: New York, NY Task: GPRS provided laser scanning services to capture data from a staircase and railings to generate a 3D model in STP file format. The target objects of acquisition were the staircase features including treads, rails and rail hangers. The 3D model was needed to create custom drawings to prefabricate an irregular railing. Challenge: It was difficult for the client to accurately make three-dimensional measurements of staircase and railing using conventional tools. Manually trying to take enough measurements in the X, Y, Z axis to comprehensively and accurately model the unique shape and contours would have been tedious and nearly impossible. Solutions: High resolution point cloud data was collected by an experienced scan technician in 20 scan locations and four hours on site. Accurate measurements of all parts of the stairway, including the whole step surface, balustrade, handrails and adjacent floor and wall surfaces were quickly captured. Deliverable: GPRS’ in-house engineers delivered intensity map point cloud files, 3D model in STP file format and TruView’s (3D photographs overlaid on top of the point cloud data) to the client.Added Value: The GPRS scan technician was met on site by an Italian-based design firm to discuss using the 3D model to generate design specs. In this case, the client was interested in dimensions of the railing for fabrication. 3D laser scanning generates point cloud data and engineers can summarize the data into a 3D model. Every dimension on the staircase can be determined quickly and accurately. Another benefit of laser scanning includes being able to immerse a viewer in the virtual scene without the need for a site visit. 3D laser scanning is a powerful tool for capturing measurements where precision and accuracy are critical.
